M is for music. When I think of music I think of classical since it is the one that I listen to the most right now. My mother in law said something once that has stuck with me: hearing a certain piece of music can always bring you back to a specific moment. I’m going to do something different today. List some songs with links and the place that they take me to.
Allen Jackson singing Where were you when the word stopped turning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvj6zdWLUuk I grew up in New York City and will never forget where I was when the World Trade Center was attacked. I first heard this song on Larry King and it moved me to tears. I always have a little dust in my eye when this is played. 🙂
The next entry in where music takes me is: On August 21, 2008 I suffered a ruptured aneurysm on the front right side of my brain. I spent 19 days in ICU, 4 days in the hospital and 11 days in rehab. On September 23, I went home from rehab. I went home to a place that I had never lived in. It like I was a guest in someone’s house but with my stuff. That lasted about a month. I remember sitting at the dining room table with Adam on Sept. 24 which is our wedding anniversary. I apologized for not getting him a present or a card. Adam said don’t worry I have the best present: you’re home with me. Thinking about this reminds me again of how lucky I am. It also reminds of a song from Rent called Seasons of Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hj7LRuusFqo
The Love of my Life was written Jim Brickman and in this video is sung by Donny Osmond: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBjlYSTK-ag When I think of all the things that Adam and I have been through it should be overwhelming. But nothing is overwhelming with my hubby by my side. That songs just reminds me that I have someone in my corner.
These last song is just for me. They always make me feel better. No real reason.
