is for Zentangle® which has been trademarked so that is why I have the trademark symbol after it. This comes directly from the website: Here’s some suggested copy that you can use: The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. “Zentangle” is a registered trademark of Zentangle, Inc. Learn more at zentangle.com.
The concept of zentangle® came into my life when I really needed stress relief and I have been using on and off for about three years. The reason I like to zentangle is that you can’t make a mistake. Your “mistake” just becomes part of the pattern. You can tangle on almost any surface and get a good result. For example I’ve seen dominoes that were bought at goodwill used. I’ve seen tangles on canvas and part of a bigger art piece. There is no end in how they can be used in your art or just to relax on a nice sunny day. In closing I’m going to post few resources that will include pictures and patterns which you can use to get started with zentangle®
Sandy Steen Bartholomew has tons of zentangle stuff and her blog is the perfect place to find inspiration.
- One of the best places to find patterns
- Check out this frog. I love it and can envision making it sometime.
is for yellow. Yellow is the color of gold, butter and ripe lemons and in a color wheel which is used by painters yellow is found between green and orange. School buses and sunflowers are also yellow.
I live in Oregon and we call rain liquid sunshine. I’m so happy that we are finally getting to the time in the year where it is still light in the sky at 9pm at night. That is why it pays to live this far north in a temperate climate.
One other thing that I love that is yellow is my cat’s eyes. You may remember Cindy from my C post. I know that Cindy has yellow eyes but so does Goldie (hubby’s cat) so here is a picture of both of them.
is for xerox. Xerox is a company and also an action. An xerox is a copy of something. For example: xerox this article means that you make a copy of the article. It is a paper copy and is usually in black and white. During the past 5 years xerox’s in color have become more affordable and therefore more available for the average office.
Xerox is a publicly traded company and has been around since 1960. They manufacture the machine that makes the copies that are called xeroxes.
is for Walter Wombat. I know that it kind of weird so let me explain. I first heard of wombat’s from my husband who decided to nickname me: his wombat princess after seeing a picture and deciding that they were cute. I told him that if you’re going to call me that then you need to get me a wombat. That is how I got Walter Wombat.
In August 2008 I had a ruptured aneurysm in my brain and for some reason Walter Wombat gave me comfort. He would sit at the end of my bed in ICU and . I would get the same question: what is that? I would say a wombat and explain how my hubby got him for me. I can remember being agitated and then being handed Walter Wombat and instantly calming down. Now Walter Wombat has a place of honor in my family room.
is for Vendetta. I’m very active in politics and I see so many vendetta’s going on that that I can not sort out who is telling the truth and who is not. It is getting quite tiring. Trying to figure out who is right and who is wrong. I’m just hoping that it will get sorted out in the end.
is for Umbrella. I live in Oregon and we have a saying that only tourists use umbrella’s. I won’t say that is totally true since I have used one once or twice since I moved here. In downtown Portland there is a statue called Allow Me which shows a man holding an umbrella most Oregonians call him Umbrella Man. You can see him when you take the max train downtown since he is in Pioneer Courthouse Square. Pioneer Courthouse Square aka Portland’s Living Room which is a gathering place for Portland city residents.
